The Pacific Northwest is an isolated region due to its high mountains, remote coastlines, and dense forests. Surprisingly it also has the continents only active volcano. The Pacific Northwest feels a deep sense of environmental responsibility similarly to the natural wonder of Yosemite National park. The landforms of Pacific Northwest is mountainous, and parallels the coast. There are incredible mountain ranges in the Coast Ranges and Cascade Mountains that include St. Elias Mountains, the rugged Chugash Range, and Kenai Mountains in Alaska. The grand mountains create a barrier to the movement of maritime air from the Pacific Ocean. This results in heavy rainfall on western sides and drier conditions on eastern side.
Yosemite National Park is isolated similarly to the Pacific Northwest. The nearest city is about an hour and a half! It's called Merced. As seen by the pictures below the large mountains isolate Yosemite from the outside world.

Another very common feature both Yosemite and the Pacific Northwest have in common is their love and abundance of out door actives! How could they not love the outdoors with both their beautiful landscapes!
